About the Soccer Program
The Roslyn Soccer Program is broken down into three divisions: U6, U8, and U10. (See registration page for an age breakdown.)
U6 (Co-ed)
Objective is to introduce the players to basic skills (kicking, dribbling, control, and shooting). Skills are taught through fun drills and non-competitive games.
U8 (Co-ed)
Objective is to further develop basic skill levels introduced in the U6 division. Individual skills are stressed, and an introduction to passing comes into play.
U10 (Boys teams & Girls teams)
At this level, teams are made up of all girls or all boys. Occasionally, girls may play on boys’ teams. Players build upon previous skills by adding new ones and are introduced to positions, throw-ins, off-sides, etc.
Travel (Boys teams & Girls teams)
The travel arm of Roslyn Soccer is AC United (www.acunited.org). Our objective is to field a fully competitive team in each age group for league play. All teams are rostered on a try-out basis. Inter-County Soccer League (ICSL) is the current parent league for most AC United teams. Players in this program will be required to travel to game sites outside the immediate Roslyn area.* Presently, AC United will sponsor a team based on the number of sign-ups within the age group. Teams are registered in the appropriate division, depending on the overall skill level of the team in that age bracket.
